Meet our first recipient of the Grassroot Women Empowerment Award. Folake Moremi Akano.
A qualified legal practitioner. She is a graduate of Nottingham Trent University, UK, where she obtained her LL.B., before proceeding to the Nigerian Law School to earn her Barrister at Law qualification. She also holds an MSc in International Social and Public Policy from the London School of Economics and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria (ICSAN).
Her passion for broadcasting and TV presenting led her to transition into media in 2018. She anchored a documentary series titled Street Smart Women on Plus TV Africa, broadcast across more than 25 African countries. Moremi’s work has earned her local and global recognition.
Her dedication towards humanity has qualified her as a role model and our first recipient of the Grassroots Women Empowerment Award for her diligent role in arts, women’s empowerment and cultural impact.
